ReDesign.School is an initiative of The Design School at Arizona State University to listen and engage with the best minds in the design world and rethink design education. We are conducting surveys, hosting roundtables, collecting writing samples, and engaging with both students and faculty alike to help us redesign The Design School.
This process is centered around 5 key questions:
- Where is design going?
- How can design education be more relevant (to students, community, to the US, and globally)?
- What are the future skill-sets designers need to learn now? Soft skills? Technical skills?
- Designers work in transdisciplinary ways now. What should a design school do to prepare students for that?
- What should a design school do to forward equity and inclusion?
Our listening process concluded in August 2018, where answers given through our roundtable discussions and survey submissions to the future of design education were compiled to begin our next phase of redesign.
Our current redesign phase, led by the international responses to our survey, will help inform these next important steps in redesigning a design school that is relevant, equitable and collaborative.
Stay tuned for updates on this next phase in our redesign process!
